What is StreetPrint?
StreetPrint is a proprietary decorative paving system
that uses specially designed templates to imprint asphalt,
and a surfacing system called StreetBond to color and
fortify the surface. The result is a decorative paving
system that replicates the appearance of hand-laid brick.
Where can
I get it?
StreetPrint is installed by a network of authorized applicators
throughout North America and around the globe. Your local
representative is a highly skilled professional, determined
to provide his or her customers with a quality decorative
driveway.
How much
does it cost?
The cost to install StreetPrint varies depending upon
the thickness of asphalt required, the amount of base
preparation required, size of the project, StreetPrint
pattern and trim package chosen. In North America StreetPrint
generally provides the best value when compared to other
decorative pavement systems.
How long
does it last?
StreetBond Surfacing Products are designed to wear with
the grace and realism common to concrete brick pavers.
The cement component of StreetBond, combined with the
color pigments, provides for a realistic brick-like appearance.
The surface is fade resistant and helps to repel harmful
UV rays. As with all decorative paving systems there will
be some wear over time.
Wear Rate
We have identified the following conditions which result
in increased wear rates for StreetBond Surfacing Products.
- Opening the StreetBonded surface up to traffic before
the coating has completed its initial curing time.
- Excessive traffic abuse (i.e. turning, stopping, accelerating).
- Sand or other abrasive materials on the surface.
- Studded snow tires.
- Constant and prolonged exposure to water (i.e. poor
drainage).
What must also be kept in mind, and is usually forgotten,
is that the wear associated with StreetBond Surfacing
products is cosmetic. With other forms of decorative pavement
the failure tends to be structural in nature, requiring
a more expensive and disruptive repair. As long as the
asphalt used has sufficient strength to resist pattern
fading, the StreetPrint application can be made to look
like new by simply re-applying a fresh coat of StreetBond
Surfacing Products. It should also be noted, at time of
sale, that the cost of reapplying the StreetBond Surfacing
Products would be significantly less than the cost of
the initial application. At this time the color can also
be changed, an option not available with other decorative
paving systems.
Can I use
it as driveway, patio, or walkway?
StreetPrint can be used wherever a normal asphalt system
is used. However, please contact your local Authorized
Applicator to see if these applications are suitable in
your area.
What about
weeds?
StreetPrint is a continuous surface and its protective
surfacing system does not support organic materials, so
the weed growth seen with hand laid products is not a
problem with StreetPrint.
Is StreetPrint
guaranteed?
The StreetBond Surfacing System is guaranteed against
manufacturer's defects. Any other warranties, guarantees
or promises are the sole responsibility of the Taconic
Maintenance operator.
What is
the StreetBond Surfacing System?
StreetBond is the surfacing system used with StreetPrint
to color and fortify the surface. When cured, StreetBond
is an Interpenetrating Network (IPN) which means that,
like composite materials or alloys, it is able to produce
properties that significantly exceed those of a single
component system. StreetBond combines polymer and cement
technologies to achieve an exceptional combination of
durability, curing characteristics, performance properties
and natural appearance.
Is it environmentally
friendly?
StreetPrint uses a coating system known as StreetBond.
StreetBond is a water based environmentally friendly product.
Will it
fade?
The coating is fade resistant and helps to repel harmful
UV rays. As with all decorative paving systems there will
be some wear over time. Unlike other decorative paving
systems the color of your StreetPrint work can be rejuvenated
or changed as frequently as you would like, at a fraction
of the initial installation cost.
Is it slippery?
StreetPrint is not slippery.
How does
it hold up in winter?
The pattern in StreetPrint speeds drying of the surface
which makes ice formation less likely. StreetPrint is
made from materials which are unaffected by salt and therefore
will not spawl from de-icing salts and weathering. StreetPrint
is a monolithic surface with no trip points, therefore
potential damage created by snowplows is rare. Any snowplowing
should be done using a rubber guard. This contrasts with
hand laid bricks that can be installed at an uneven height
or can shift through freeze/thaw or water penetration,
creating a plow hazard and a trip point safety hazard.
What are
maintenance frequencies and costs?
A StreetPrint driveway is very low maintenance. The pavement
surface can be easily cleaned as required. The proprietary
StreetBond Surfacing System is unaffected by de-icing
salts and the continuous pavement substrate will not support
vegetation growth. If at some point, years after the original
installation date, the homeowner would like to have their
driveway surface renewed, a fresh coat of StreetBond can
be inexpensively applied.
Can I clean
it? With what?
Try to ensure that the area is flushed with water regularly
to remove any abrasive materials (ie. sand/dirt). Use
a low pressure, high volume rinse. Abrasive materials
on the surface can decrease the life of the coatings.
StreetPrint is resistant to oil, grease and gas, however,
it is advisable to remove any spots as soon as possible.
Use a mild degreaser, such as ěSimple Greenî, scrub the
area with a stiff broom or brush, and follow with a high
volume, low-pressure rinse.
Note: High pressure washing is not recommended.
